Active Shooter Drill

McDowell EMS is coordinating a multi-agency drill to allow paramedics to receive hands on training in an Active Shooter situation.  This drill will incorporate MCI, triage, multi-trauma victims and stress inoculation.  

Mental Health First Aid

Caleb L. Pusey, MDiv, MA, LPC, NCC, is the director of Care Net Counseling in Marion, NC.  He has five years of counseling experience in a variety of needs that include: anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, grief and loss and persistent mental illness.  This course will provide in-depth review of the skills needed to respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorder.

Trauma Case Review

Monday June 17, 2019

Trauma Services from Mission Health will be conducting case reviews of trauma patients cared for in McDowell County.  Trauma Transport Destination Plan and trending standards of care for trauma patients will be reviewed.

McDowell EMS paramedics receive constant continuing education both in the classroom and in a mock scenario setting.  Our medical directors and training staff are involved in both settings to guide patient care training for not only EMS personnel but also for the community and our first responders.  Below are several pictures showing our crews involved in training activities.

Current Trends In Stroke Care

Robin Jones, MSN, RN, CNRN, is the Stroke Coordinator for Mission Health.  This In-Service will be designed to review the updated standards and system of care in the Western Region of NC.  RACE score, Stroke Transport Destination Plan and Expanded Window of Treatment will be reviewed.
